Here's strip 148 of Dude in Distress, and Mustachioed Machismo continues to seem undisturbed by Clark's taunts. And, as I asked last update, is that a good thing?

That question is yet to be answered! It does seem to be winning Clark some time, so far, which is good. But it is also... scary, somehow.

And I've never heard of such a proverb. I have a feeling MM wouldn't know a real proverb if it hit him in the face, much like AA, despite being generally able to converse on a much higher level than AA.

I really don't know what MM is up to. Hitting Clark in the face, binding him to a chair, then waiting 'til he comes to and having this conversation?

And he's waiting for FF to arrive.

Hm. Cleaning... Maybe now he wants to wipe the floor with Clark?

Otherwise I have no idea what MM wants. Just FF's attention?

But it seems like everything is still going along with MMs plan, taunting or not.

Maybe MM wants to hurt Clark in front of FF in some misguided attempt to impress her.

I forgot to add in my previous comment- I agree that he's waiting for FF to get there and that his plan (whatever it is) seems like it's working so far. This situation is dangerous for Clark.

Eh, if MM's plan is to wait for FF to arrive before doing anything to Clark, I think that 1) what he plans to do to Clark is probably less horrible in the first place and 2) FF being there most certainly makes it less dangerous for Clark. Also 3), in this scenario what is said can be much more important than if MM is planning to do horrible stuff to Clark before FF arrives - and say what you will but Clark is likeable when he speaks and he can make MM listen and take note.

Overall I rate Clark's chance of getting out of this with minimal additional injury significantly above zero, almost 50/50, if MM indeed plans to wait for FF. If not I expect significant additional injury on the next page.

Ohh, that's good, especially the 1st part :-)

I don't think MM plans to hurt Clark (much) more than he already did.

@ Guest - 9th Nov 2020, 7:16 PM:

I don't think so, he just confirmed that FF is above his level, too. To hurt Clark in front of FF he would need to act very fast and might get killed or at least hurt badly while trying (unsuccessfully) - and he appears way too calm and relaxed to gamble with his life.

Argh, comments came out of order.

Maybe what MM wants is just to have this conversation. Scare Clark, see how he reacts, see how FF reacts... see how much it scares FF.

What's the use in that? For one just to test how Clark can be used as a weak point against FF. Maybe for villainous purposes, maybe MM is being protective in a twisted way. Maybe MM's goal here is simply to convince FF that she should not date Clark.

Unlikely right now, perhaps possible with some more time and run-ins, is the following: MM eventually convinces himself that Clark is a good fit for FF, that she is happy and not too worried about Clark being used this way, whereby MM can be relatively content.

Great theory! That would work for several (ulterior) intentions.

> Maybe MM's goal here is simply to convince FF that she should not date Clark.

That's a quite obvious motive, yes :-)

Being protective... maybe of FF, not Clark. Great one!
