Slight indeed. While I like this stuff even better than the action, a superhero comic, if their dates are not crashed by supervillains it's just unrealistic. Ehm... superhero comic logic. Obviously.
I am identifying strongly with Clark now. His style of humor matches my own.
The summer after I graduated from high school I met a girl about my age at a fencing class. She went with me and another friend to get a snack, and she mentioned that she played Dungeons and Dragons. I said: "So you are taking a fencing class, *and* you play D&D? Is it too soon to propose marriage?" She laughed and said "Yes, too soon."
She wasn't at all interested in me so we never even had a single date. Clark is already doing better than 17-year-old me. Good luck, Clark and Femme!
It's not so much jumping the gun, it's a humorous offer that he expected her to decline. It is light flirting and trying to make her laugh. Her response shows that she took it exactly as he intended it, and she flirted back in a similar way.
Yep. I couldn't resist the joke when it came to titling this strip. And everytime I see the name, I start singing it to the tune of Iron Maiden's "Infinite Dreams."
